Bhubaneswar: Sainik School Korukonda, Andhra Pradesh, stood overall champion and Sainik School Bijapur, Karnataka runners up in sports and co-curricular competitions at the South Zone Sainik Schools Sports and Co-curricular Championship Meet 2017, concluded here on Saturday.
More than 388 cadets from Sainik School Amravathinagar, Tamilnadu, Sainik School Bijapur and Sainik School Kodagu from Karnatak, Sainik School Kazhakootam, Kerala, Sainik School Korukonda and Sainik School Kalikiri from Andhra Pradesh participated in the six day meet. The main events of this meet were in football,volleyball, basketball, hockey and co-curricular activities like Enghish and hindi debate, quiz and cultural competitions.
The meet was inaugurated by Lt Gen KPD Samanta,PVSM, AVSM, VSM (Retd) as chief guest and Air Marshal J N Burma, PVSM, AVSM, VSM (Retd) graced the closing ceremony. Principal of Bhubaneswar Sainik School Capt (IN) Kanchan Mukherjee, administrative officer, Cdr N Santhosh Kumar, vice-principal Cdr Sushil Kumar, and senior master Dr S D Singh organized the meet. The meet was co-ordinated by sport secretary A K Mukherjee, Pushkar Chandra Kapri, and Ajit Kumar.
