IIM Sambalpur to start courses for working executives, industry professionals and PhD programmes: Director Dr. Jaiswal

Bhubaneswar: The Indian Institute of Management, Sambalpur(IIMS) director, Dr.Mahadeo Jaiswal, said that the B-School will introduce Executive MBA programme for working professionals from next academic session. He also hinted that the Institute would introduce some short-term courses for industry professionals and PhD programmes soon . According to him  the syllabus, course structure, fees and other course-related formality are being worked out for the new programmes.

The director, while speaking to media persons on the sidelines of  IIMS’ Business Conclave ‘Marmagya 2.0’, here on Saturday, said that the duration of the course is one year and classes of the programme will be conducted on weekends for the convenient of the working students .

Stating that the course will be based on social business innovation, Dr Jaiswal said, the professionals will be taught on how to solve social problems through innovative business models. They will be taught how to create social value more like some government and private companies are doing now, he added.

The director said that the IIMS is proposing to double its student intake capacity from the present 120 with the coming up of the its own campus.

IIMS, mentored by IIM Indore, is operating from its present campus setup at Silicon Institute of Technology, Sason near Sambalpur city . The Institute, has been allotted 200 acres land at Basantpur in the vicinity of Sambalpur city by the Odisha government for its own campus. The campus is expected to be ready in three years.
