Bhubaneswar: Paradip Port has offered the port users to use Mechanised Coal Handling Plant(MCHP) for iron ore pellets loading.

In a trial shipment, 57,000 tonnes of iron ore pellets of Brahmani River Pellets Ltd.(BRPL) has been loaded in vessel MV Aurelia berthed at coal berth-1 in the MCPH on Thursday. The loading in the trial shipment  completed in 40 hours as against 72 hours in a manual berth.

“This new venture of handling pellets through MCHP shall be beneficial to both Paradip Port  as well as the exporters making a win-win situation for both”, said a Port spokesperson. Whereas the exporter would benefit by reduction in its handling cost because of faster turnaround of their vessels, Paradip Port would benefit by making a better and efficient utilization of its facilities and a drastic reduction in the congestion of intra-port roads caused by the IPT dumpers, added the spokesperson.
