Bhubaneswar:The Nalco CMD, Tapan Kumar Chand, Sunday said that the recent commercial success of Nalco’s nano based emrino technology, first of its kind in India, is an example of sustainable solution.

Chand, while speaking at the valedictory session of Odisha Bigyan ‘O’ Paribesh Congress, said about steps taken by Nalco like carbon sequestration, development of nano based emrino technology for treatment of effluent, zero based mining as examples of application of technology for environmental security. He said the country’s next phase of growth depends on technology-driven and sustainable solution.

The Nalco CMD said that the company has planted 9.7 million trees against production of 6.8 million tonnes of bauxite at the rate of at least one tree per every tonne of bauxite produced. “We are also working to participate in tariff based bidding by  Odisha government to set up green power plants of 150MW capacity in Odisha,” he said.

The 19the session of the Congress is being organised on theme ‘Science & Technology for Environmental Security’ by Odisha Environmental Society and the KIIT University. Among others,  Ajaya Kumar Parida, Director, Institute of Life Science,  Sudhakar Panda, Director, Institute of Physics,  Sundar Narayan Patro President and Jaya Krushna Panigrahi, Convenor of Odisha Bigyan ‘O’ Paribesh Congress were present on the occasion.
