Bhubaneswar:The Odisha governor, Dr.SC Jamir, inaugurated the 32nd All India Postal Cultural Meet 2017-18, here on Wednesday.

The Meet is an endeavour by the department of posts to bring together employees and their family members to showcase their skill and talent on a number of cultural events.

Speaking on the occasion Jamir said, “Rich heritage of Indian Postal System is rightly a source of great national pride. For more than 150 years, it has been the backbone of the country’s communication and has played a crucial role in the country’s socio-economic development.”

The governor said, the onslaught of telecommunication and technology, where optic fibers and satellite signals have come to challenge human interface in communication. But the postal department responded well. It has brought in several reform measures and introduced modern technology like computerization, networking and it always strives to meet the expectations of customers by making post office a provider of multiple services.

Chief post master general Dr. SK Kamila, Berhampur region postmaster general Col. Jaleswar Kanhar, Sambalpur region postmaster general Lalitendu Pradhan, director postal services RP Gupta and Odissi dance exponent Padamshree Kumkum Mohanty also spoke on the occasion.
