Bhubaneswar: The Odisha industries principal secretary, Sanjeev Chopra, Thursday said that the state is working for diversify industrial development with an aim to attract Rs 2.5 lakh crore investments as part of its “Vision 2025”. The investment will create job opportunity for 30 lakh people, said Chopra at a meeting in New Delhi held by the state government with trade consulates representing several European countries in the run up to ‘Make in Odisha’ conclave 2018.
“Owing to the proactive and progressive governance, the state of Odisha is fast emerging as the manufacturing hub of eastern India,” the principal secretary said addressing senior officials of various trade consulates and embassies at the meeting.
Chopra, who leads the state government delegation, said Vision 2025 aims to get the huge investment in focus sectors like ancillary and downstream in metal sector; chemicals, plastics and petrochemicals; electronics manufacturing and IT; agro and seafood processing; tourism and textiles.
The second edition of Make In Odisha, the flagship Investors Meet of the state government will be organised during November 11-15, 2018. The first edition, which was held in 2016, attracted investment intent of Rs 2,03,270 crore across 10 diversified sectors.
