Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has sanctioned 29 road projects estimated at Rs 453 crore for up-gradation and improvement of road connectivity in Malkangiri and Koraput districts of the state.
The Odisha State Rural Connectivity Project Agency(OSRCPA), in its first governing body meeting, held here under the chairmanship of chief secretary AP Padhi, Tuesday sanctioned 13 road projects in Boipariguda, Koraput, Lamatapur, Nrayanpatana, and Semiliguda blocks of Koraput district estimated around Rs 102.38 crore and 16 roads in Kalimela, Khairaput, Korukunda, Kudumuluguma, Malkangiri, Mathili and Podia blocks of Malkangiri district estimated around Rs.350.51 crore. The projects would be implemented with fund support from Central and State Govt on 60:40 sharing basis.
The meeting decided that Chief Engineer DPI & Roads would ensure timely completion of tendering process. The new technologies like cement treated sub-base, WNM, cold SDBC; nano-technology etc would be adopted for the project to make it cost saving and facilitate speedy implementation.
Besides the chief secretary, the development commissioner R.Balakrishnan , home additional chief secretary Asit Kumar Tripathy, KBK chief administrator S.P.Thakur, finance principal secretary Tuhin Kanta Padey, works secretary Nalini Kanta Pradhan, chief engineer ( DPI& Roads) Om Prakash Patel, and works additional secretary A.Mallik are members of OSRCPA. The main objective of the Society is to provide seamless road connectivity in the left wing extremism areas of the state. The Society assesses the ground level road requirement through the district unit. The road projects are finally sanctioned by state and Central government.
