Bhubaneswar: The deputy director general of mines safety, AK Sinha, Saturday inaugurated IMFA’s  first ever ‘Rescue Room’ in Sukinda Valley at Mahagiri underground chromite mines.

IMFA director and COO, Jayant Mishra said that this facility, equipped with specialised tools and trained personnel, will be able to respond to unforeseen eventualities not just in IMFA’s own mines but also those in the neighbourhood. Stating that this is another pioneering step by IMFA in line with its commitment to underground mining in Sukinda Valley, he said the company is grateful to DGMS for their guidance in establishing the ‘Rescue Room’.

Director of mines R Balasubramanian  graced the occasion.

IMFA is also the only lessee operating in the mining area to have installed an automated wheel washing system and mist canons to safeguard against environmental hazards.
