Bhubaneswar: Former union railway minister and Odisha Congress leader Bhakta Charan Das’ name figures in the cash -for-ticket controversy in the poll bound Telengana.

Das, who is the campaign committee chairman of Odisha Congress is now the Screening Committee chairman of the Congress in Telengana.

Ranaga Reddy district Congress president Kyama Mallesh, has alleged that Das was demanding Rs 3 crore for ticket. He is seeking ticket from Ibrahimpatnam assembly constitutncy. Kyama claims that he has an audio recording of a person seeking Rs 3 crore on behalf of Screening Committee chairman Das.

Kyama’s allegations, however rubbished by Congress senior functionaries. There is no basis in his allegation, they asserted.

Congress is facing serious problem over distribution of tickets in Telengana. With party’s prospects in winning the elections becoming brighter, ticket aspirants are asserting themselves. Leaders denied tickets have unfurled the banner of revolt threatening to contest the elections as independent to mar the changes of official candidate. Kyama along with former MLA Bikshapathi Yadav and Jangamaiah Yadav has cautioned the party senior leaders that the denial of tickets to OBC will prove costly for the party at a press confrenece.
