Paradip: Paradip Port Trust (PPT) chariman Rinkesh Roy Friday said that the port would emerge as the top port in the country with high volume of cargo handling. Stating that the Rs3,500 crore port modernisation programme is going on in full swing, he said this would result in capacity augmentation of 55-60 million tonnes per annum (mtp) over the existing capacity thus enabling the port to become No-1 in the country in terms of cargo handling. 

Ray was speaking on the occasion of the Port Day observed on the auspicious day of Kartik Purnima.  the deputy conservator Capt. A.K. Mohapatra,  chief engineer K Ramchandra Rao, and FA & CAO S.K. Sahu also spoke on the occasion.   

Extending his greetings to the gathering on the auspicious occasion of Kartika Purnima, the chairman lauded the marine department achievement of a commendable 27 vessel movements in 24 Hrs. and also for the first time Mediterranean Mooring type berthing of ship carrying edible oil in the Eastern Coast.
