Bhubaneswar: The Odisha chief minister, Naveen Patnaik, has urged the union railway minister to introduce new passenger trains connecting Nayagarh and Bhainsapalli and mail express trains originating from Bhubaneswar like Garib Rath Express be extended to Nayagarh.

“The trains will help people of Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Boudh, Subarnapur and Bolangir districts to have better access to the large coastal belt of Odisha as well as the economic hubs of Kolkata and Visakhapatnam,” Patnaik has stated in a letter to the union railway minister Piyush Goyal on Friday.

Pointing out that the Khurda Road-Nayagarh section of the Khurda-Bolangir new railway line has been completed since long, the chief minister has demanded that the Indian Railways should introduce new passenger trains and extend other express trains upto Nayagarh.

Stating that the 16-Km Bolangir-Bhainsapalli sector of the Khurda-Bolangir railway line has been completed and the mandatory inspection of Commission Railway Safety was also completed in October, 2018, the railway should also introduce passenger services for the section.

“I request you to introduce passenger trains in this section without any further delay, so that the genuine aspirations of the people of western Odisha can be met,’ the chief minister has said in the letter.
