BBarbil(Keonjhar) Odia tribal girl Manju Munda of Sialijoda village, under Joda block of Keonjhar district, has brought glory to Odisha as well as to India by winning Gold in the 8th Moscow Wushu Stars-2019 Championship, held in Moscow, Russia.
She defeated the challenger and won gold in 42-kg category in the final and became the champion.
She was the only Odia player in the 28-member Indian squad which was led by Pankaj Kumar Mahanta and three others as coach. The tournament was organised from 22nd to 27th Feb.
Manju who is currently pursuing intermediate in Joda Women’s college has 20 medals to her creditwhich includes 12 gold medals.
Last year, Babulu Munda from the same village had won silver medal at the 7th World Wushu Championship held at Brazil.
