Bhubaneswar: The Congress in Odisha has promised to refund the chit fund scam victims their money in six months time.
Releasing the party’s manifesto for the state, the Pradesh Congress president Niranjan Patnaik said that the party has focused on poverty alleviation, unemployment, education, farmers, and chit fund scam victims. He assured that on coming to power Congress would refund the chit fund victims their money in six months. The party will also refund the farmers the loan amount they had repaid to the banks.
The other promises the Congress has made in its manifesto for the state for 2019 Lok Sabha and Assembly elections:
Drinking water supply to every house by 2024, regularlisation of contractual jobs in public sector, shelter for every homeless by 2024, 33% quota for women in government jobs, pension of Rs 2000 per month for widows and old-age, pension of Rs 2000 per month from women above 80 years of age. Also in the manifesto are free education for women till +2 course, free higher education( including MBBS and Engineering courses for women in government colleges), unemployment allowance of Rs 3000 per month, government or private job will be provided to at least one member of a family, minimum support price of Rs2,600 per quintal for paddy, financial assistance of Rs 10,000 per year to farmers for 3 years, loan waiver for farmers up to Rs 2 lakh, besides the party’s national promise that every family from the poorest 20% of the population will be guaranteed a minimum income of Rs 72,000 per annum at the rate of Rs6,000 per month, money to be given to a woman of the family.
