Bhubaneswar: The exposure of Gujurat-Odisha cannabis(ganja) corridor via Adhra Pradesh and Telengana made the Odisha state police and also the state excise sleuths to sit up and investigate into the matter.

Inter-state illegal cannabis(ganja) smugglers gang had laid a Odisha-Gujarat corridor for quite some time. The ganjas, cultivated in the hilly terrain of Odisha southern districts like undivided Koraput and Kandhmal, finds its way to Berhampur from where the procure the contraband substance for its transportation to Gujurat.

The gang, however, was busted recently when the Secundrabad government railway police (GRP) forces seized 88 kg ganja at Begumpeta railway station and arrested four persons in this connections.

According to GRP SP Ashok Kumar, the accused have revealed that they had procured the ganja from Berhampur in Odisha at the rate of Rs 2000 per kg and were carrying those to Vapi in Gujarat.

The Odisha police and excise officials are going to take custody of the accused for further investigation. The state police is going to ascertain who are in Odisha supplying the contraband to the inter-state ganja smugglers gang.
