1. Bhubaneswar: XIMB’s annual sports- Athlos came to an end on Sunday. Premier B-school of the country, XLLRI, Jamsedpur, emerged as the champion and won the title Winner Athlos’19. This year the three-day Athlos garnered huge participation from various colleges and universities namely XLRI Jamshedpur; IIFT Kolkata; IMI Bhubaneswar; VJSOM, IIT Kharagpur; IIM Sambalpur; Xavier University Bhubaneswar(XUB), XIMB Alumni team and the home team (Team XIMB). The Head of Sports Development & Partnerships, Star TVNetwork, Deep Mukherjee, inaugurated the Athlos on October 18. Members of the Odisha Football Club (Odisha FC) – Ashish Shah (CEO); Rohan Sharma (Owner) and Josep Gombau (Head Coach) graced the occasion. The moderator for the event was Prof. Arijit Mitra who is specialising in operations and having an acumen in writing sports articles. After a dynamic inaugural ceremony, the teams battled each other for the most coveted title of Winner – Athlos ’19. The 3-day zestful event marked a diverse sports portfolio and exceptional performances especially by women teams, in huge numbers. The tournaments took place in stages wherein the best two teams confronted each other in finals after fighting their way-up. XLRI championed the men’s cricket league whereas XIMB was the winners of women’s cricket league. XIMB won the badminton tournament. Volleyball was won by XLRI and XUB was victorious in Pool. XLRI, Jamshedpur marked victory in tennis. Coming to basketball, team XIMB prevailed in women’s game whereas basketball (men) was won by XLRI. XLRI championed in football, throwball and chess as well thereby taking home the title of “Winner -Athlos ’19”. The event was concluded on 20th October 2019 with the closing ceremony wherein, the guests of honour – Fr. V. Arockia Das, SJ, and Prof. Arun Kumar Paul – felicitated the winners and runners-up of various events.
