Rourkela: Adding a new dimension to the culture of ‘intensive and effective employee-communication’ prevailing in Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), a new digital platform ‘CEO Connect’ was launched by Plant CEO Dipak Chattaraj on Wednesday.

The launching ceremony, held during the 849th session of the Mass Contact Exercise at Gopabandhu Auditorium, was attended by ED (P & A) Raj Vir Singh, ED(MM) D.K.Mohapatra, CGM (CO & CC) Biswajit Patnaik.

The link for the ‘CEO Connect’ platform has been given in the official portal of Rourkela Steel Plant that can be accessed from any computer connected to the Plant intranet. Any employee irrespective of department or grade can log in using his/her id & password and can give suggestions pertaining to the improvement of the Plant directly to the CEO. The suggestions can be seen only by the CEO, who will also be responding to them personally. This opportunity extended to the employees to have a direct connect with the head of the organisation will not only make them feel empowered but will also enhance their moral and strengthen their sense of ownership.

Citing examples of how small but creative suggestions can lead to huge savings, the CEO exhorted everyone to use the ‘CEO Connect’ link and give suggestions that would benefit the Plant tangibly as well as intangibly.

In his address, Raj Vir Singh said that RSP has always been known for its effective direct communication channels between the top management and the employees working at the grassroots level. ‘CEO Connect’ will further consolidate the robust HR initiatives already in place in Rourkela Steel Plant.

D. K. Mohapatra spoke about the future plans of the Plant pertaining to capacity addition and the ‘Mission 3500’ initiative to reduce cost of production.

Biswajit Pattnaik, urged the Plant collective to share its creative ideas and views with the CEO and contribute in the progress of the Plant.

A.L Das, GM (C&IT) elaborated about the objective of launching of the ‘CEO Connect’ platform.

Barkha Sharma, OCT, Power Distribution and Kunurani Biswal, OCT, OBBP elaborated on various aspects of the functioning of the Plant and Township.  Later, during the interaction session, employees gave suggestions pertaining to different issues. Rajalaxmi Acharya, Senior Instructor, HRD coordinated the session.
