Bhubaneswar: The Bharat Sarir O’ Angadan Samiti(Body), a social wing of Lok Sevak Mandal, has set a new national record by pledging 750 organ donation on a single day on Friday.
Earlier, Body had created a national record on January 16, 2015 by pledging 234 organ donation on a single day. The feat was registered in the India Book of Records.
Meanwhile, Body has pledged more than 20,000 organ donations and about 1,600 body donations with the medical colleges of the State. The Lok Sevak Mandal outfit has already handed over 25 bodies to various medical colleges for health education.
President of Body Pravash Acharya handed over the pledge papers to the Cuttack SCB Medical College physiology department head Dr. Chinmoyee Mohapatra. Assistant professor Dr.Madhusmita Panda, Dr.Smita Pata, Dr.Santosh Sahoo, Dr.D. Mishra and Body vice president Dr.Prafulla Kumar Mohapatra were present.
