Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government Monday signed an MoU and two agreements with Tata Strive and Tech Mahendra to give new dimension to its skill development and employability of youth initiatives. The State skill development and technical education (sd & te) signed the documents in the presence of chief minister Naveen Patnaik.
The first agreement was signed between SD & TE and Tata Strive to impart Life Skills to students to sharpen their soft skills to make them ready for employment in the industries as well as to compete for global placements. The agreement was signed by the director technical education and training Raghu G and Tata Strive CEO Anita Ranjan. As per the agreement Life Skill will be imparted to the students of all the 49 government ITIs in the State.
The second agreement was signed between Idco and Tech Mahendra to set up a state- of- the- art facility to start its operation for International BPO for the Fortune-500 global customers to be serviced from Fortune Tower, Bhubaneswar. This facility will provide additional employment in BPO sector which will help the Skilled-in-Odisha seeking an opportunity in international BPO sector without leaving their home State.
The agreement was signed by SVP( Global Delivery Head) Tech Mahendra, BK Mishra, Idco CGM BK Das.
A Memorandum of Understanding was also singed among Tech Mahendra, Biju Patnaik University of Technology, and College of Engineering & Technology to set up a Centre of Excellence(CoE) in the area of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learnings(ML), where students will get an opportunity to work on proof of concept (PoC) on real life business problems to keep up with the market demand and to enhance the employability of engineering students. Every year 30 students will get training the said CoE in the field of AI/ML for a period of 12 months. This initiative will help in creating and enhancing the talent pool in the field of AI/ML . This is the first ever CoE in IA space in a government engineering college in the State by any industry.
The MoU was signed by SVP(Global Delivery Head) Tech Mahendra, BK Mishra, CET principal Prof. PK Patra, and BPUT registrar HS Behera.
On this occasion, the chief minister presented an award of Rs 10 lakh to Aswath Narayan for winning gold at World Skill Competition at Russia. He has presented an award of Rs 5 lakh to Aswath’s mentor Rajat Samantray. The chief minister also presented a cheque of Rs 5 crore to the chairman of CV Raman Institute of Engineering to set up a Centre of Excellence on water technology.
Speaking on the occasion, Patnaik said, ” Our vision is to make Odisha the nucleus of global skilled manpower requirement by enhancing our skill to such a level that all the top industrial houses across the globe rope in our workforce in large numbers.”
He said, “Today our partnership with Tata Strive and Tech Mahendra to sharpen the soft skill of ITI students, with Tech Mahendra for international BPO and for the Centre of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning will certainly augment the prospects of our skilled youth in global placement.
Industries and MSME minister Dibya Shankar Mishra, skill development & technical education minister Premananda Nayak, electronic and IT minister Tusharkanti Behera, Odisha Skill Development Authority chairman Subrato Bagchi, and chief secretary Asit Tripathy were present.
