Bhubaneswar: To mark the World Diabetic Day, the ESI Hopital in the city organised a diabetic blindness awareness programme for diabetic patients, here on Thursday.
Senior eye specialist and superintendent of the Bhubaneswar ESI Hospital, Dr. Dillip Kumar Sahu educated the indoor patients about the diabetic blindness.
“High blood sugar can seriously affect eyesight and even led to blindness”, said Dr. Sahu. “However, Diabetic blindness, which in medical parlance is know as diabetic retinopathy can be prevented with awareness among the diabetic patients”, he asserted.
The eye specialist said that the educative awarness program for prevention of dibetic blindness received intense participation by diabetic patients.
