Bhubaneswar: Odisha government is soon going to announce its Electric Vehicles (EV) Policy.
A preparatory meeting was held under the chairmanship of chief secretary Asit Tripathy, here recently.
The State commerce and transport department has come with a draft policy.
The draft policy suggested that subsidy up Rs 1 lakh on purchase of EV bus, car, auto. For government employees provision should be made for providing interest free loans, relief in transportation tax.
There should be rebate in parking fees, charging fees and GST.
To promote manufacturing of EV in Odisha, provision should be made to provide the promoter land at a subsidized price.
At least 10,000 charging stations should be set up in the State. About 250 charging stations should come up near the petrol pumps in the cities. The charging station should be located at a distance of 20-30 km of each other.
The meeting decided that a comprehensive EV Policy will be made after studying the policy of other States like Andhra Pradesh, Karnaka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Uttrakhand and Tamil Nadu. The departments of industries, urban development, energy, skill development and finance will be involved in the making of the final draft of the Odisha EV Policy.
The Centre in the Union Budget FY20 has provided Rs 10,000 crore to promote EV in the country.
