Bhubaneswar: Trade union organisations INTUC, AITUC, HMS, CITU, AIUTUC and independent federations of bank, insurance, defence, BSNL, coal, mines, electricity besides employees unions of Centre and States are going to observe nation wide general strike on January 8, 2020 protesting against economic slowdown leading to unemployment, wage loss and price rise. The trade unions would also protest against the privatisation of PSUs and pro-corporate house labour laws.
The trade unions jointly organised a mass convention, here on Monday.
A presidium comprising of Madan Dhal, Ashok Das, Rajendra Das, Bimana Maiti and Sambhunath Nayak presided over the convention. Kishore Jena, Souribandhu Kar, Jogendra Tripathy, Bishnu Charan Mohanty, Jayasen Mehera, Radhakanta Sethi, Prafulla Tripathy, Ramakrushna Panda, Dushmanta Das, Rabindra Dhal, Chitta Ranjan Panigrahi, Manoj Rath, Ajaya Mohanty, Ranjan Nayak and Kanhu Charan Mallick addressed the convention exhorting the leaders to prepare the workers for the general strike on January 8 by organising conventions at district level and factory level.
