Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s premier educational institution Utkal University has got a gift of Rs 100 crore from the State government on the occasion of its Platimum Jubilee celebrations.

The chief inister, Naveen Patnaik, who inaugurated the 5 day Platinum Jubilee year celebrations of the university on Saturday, announced a financial package of Rs 100 crore for infrastructure development of institution.

Patnaik said the Rs 100 crore would used for opening of six centre of excellence in the campus.

The chief minister inaugurated the Central Instrumentation Centre and Digital Library Building of the university on this occasion. He also laid the foundation stone for the boundary wall project.

Addressing the Platinum Jubilee celebration gatherings, Patnaik said improving the quality of education at all levels of the education system is a top priority of his government.

“Teachers and students are the principal players in an institution like this. Teaching, learning is an ongoing and evolving process. Management, infrastructure, learning resources and even curriculum are facilitating factors. The outcome of this entire exercise is quality human resource,” he said.

State higher education minister Arun Sahoo spoke on the pivotal role of the Alumni of the university towards all round growth and development. He also congratulated all members of the university for their contribution towards making this event possible in a very short duration.

Odisha Skill Development Authority CEO Subrato Bagchi, Jajpur MP Sarmistha Sethi, Bhubaneswar North MLA Sushant Rout, university vice chancellor SM Patnaik, registrar Dayanidhi Nayak and chairperson PG Council Sabita Acharya also graced the occasion.
