Bhubaneswar: Navy veterans of Odisha are going to establish War Memorial and War Museum in the State.
This was disclosed by the Veterans Club Odisha on the occasion of celebration of Navy Day, here on Thursday.
The Veterans Club Odisha has urged the Odisha government to bring the Dakota aircraft which was flown by legendary Biju Patnaik to the State. The Club plans to place the Dakota aircraft in its proposed War Museum. The antique aircraft is now lying in Kolkata International Airport.
The Veteran Club Odisha celebrated the Navy Day amidst the reverberation of the rhythms and rhymes of Naval Band and Music (Jay Bharatee), here on Thursday.
Navy veterans Samarendra Parija, Janaki Prasad Patnaik and Group Captain Jagadananda Brahma narrated the history of Navy Day celebration and the momentousness and value of Indian Navy in the present prevailing national as well as international situation. The also recollected their career experiences. Group captain Jagadananda Brahma recounted his own experiences and reminiscence of his role in Indo-Pak war in 1971.
Club president Bidyadhar Nayak, veterans Nitai Gour Dhal and Gopinath Mishra called upon all the veterans to contribute to the development of the State as well as the Nation.
Amongst all the distinguished , veteran Rabindra Kumar Sahoo, Sena Medal, Captain Rabindra Kumar Pattnaik, Captain Manmath Kumar Singh, Haraparasad Dora, Mrutyunjay Mahapatra, Shesadev Mishra, Bibhuprasad Swain, Bishnuprasad Dash, Baikuntha Prasad Tripathy, Antarjyaami Dash, Deenabandhu Shadhani, Niranjan Ransingh were present on the occasion.
