Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Congress Monday attacked the BJD and the BJP in Odisha alleging that the two parties have an unholy alliance.

Addressing a presser, the Odisha Congress president Niranjan Patnaik said that the election to the post of director for AIIMS, Bhubaneswar, clearly establish the nexus between the two prominent non-Congress parties in the State.

There was contest between BJD Rajya Sabha member Amar Patnaik and BJP Rajya Sabha member Aswani Baisnav for the post of AIIMS, Bhubaneswar, director.

Patnaik wondered, how come the BJD candidates won the election which has only 8 members of the Upper House while the BJP has 81 members.

Citing another incident, the Congress chief said that even though Prasana Acharya, Sasmit Patra and N Bhaskar Roa of BJD had given notice along with other opposition members in the Rajya Sabha for a discussion on the economic slow down, the three BJD members did not participate in the debate. Similarly, in the Lok Sabha the BJP, which is crying hoarse over the issue of Smitarani suicide case in the State, remained silent when Congress’ Saptagiri Ulaka raised this issue during the Zero Hour. Three of the BJD members opposed Ulaka in the House, he pointed out.

Niranjan Patnaik was accompanied by Jagenswar Babu, Nisikanta Mishra and Deepak Mohapatra in the presser.
