Bhubaneswar: Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik handed over appointment letters to 489 teachers and 8 principals of Odisha Adarsh Vidyalayas at an event, here on Wednesday.

The chief minister felicitated 9 students from the first batch of Adharsh Vidyalaya and launched the Adarsh Vidyalaya website on this occasion

The chief minister, while speaking on the occasion, said that the government is planning to open at least one Adarsh Vidyalaya in each of the 314 blocks of the State. Stating that the there are 214 Adarsh Vidyalayas now functioning in the State, he said 100 more is going to be opened soon. The chief minister asserted that the government is committed to provide quality education to students in Odisha.

Patnaik said teaching is a noble profession and future of a country is made in a classroom, and added, teachers must focus on character building and moral development.

School and mass education minister Samir Ranjan Dash, secretary Chitra Arumugam and Adarsh Vidyalaya organization adviser Bijaya Sahoo were present.
