Bhubaneswar: Eminent educationist Prof. R.K.Chauhan took over as vice-chancellor of the SOA Deemed to be University here on Wednesday.
Prof. Chauhan, who took over from the incumbent vice-chancellor Prof. Amit Banerjee on his superannuation, is the former Secretary of the University Grants Commission (UGC) and was previously Vice-Chancellor of three different universities.
He was Vice-Chancellor of the Guru Jambheswar University, Hisar, The Global Open University, Kohima and Lingaya’s University, Faridabad. He also served as Pro-Chancellor of the Lingaya’s Vidyapeeth at Faridabad.
A management expert, Prof. Chauhan recently completed an Indian Council for Social Science Research (ICSSR) sponsored major research project on ‘Faculty Retention and Faculty Appraisal’. Having worked on subjects like educational management, financing of higher education and strategic management, he also supervised five research scholars leading to their Ph.D. award.
He was also member of many national and international delegations including the one headed by the Chief Justice of India which visited several universities in the USA.
