Bhubaneswar: Activists of AIDSO protested against the police firing on the students of Jamia Milia University students by demonstrating in front of the Utkal University gate, here on Monday.
The student members of the AIDSO with placards in hands blocked the road to the university for some time.
AIDSO city committee president Naseem Sarkar said that they were protesting against the police entry into the university campus and mercilessly beating the students and faculty leaving 200 injured. The demonstration is also against the Modi government’s Citizens’ Amendment Act,2019 and NRC Act.
State president Ganesh Tripathy, secretary Swasti Sangita Dalai, Rekha Dandpat, Pally Mallick and Manoj Patra said that the AIDSO demands that strong action be taken against the police officers involved in the Jamia Malia University incident and withdrawal of the contentious acts immediately.
