Bhubaneswar: Lalit Mohan Patnaik has been elected as the new president of Odisha Nagarik Samaj. He become the fifth president of the Samaj.
Patnaik, who had left the Nalco service, has been involved in several people’s movements in the State. He led movements opposing sale of Nalco and Chhattisgarh’s attempt to block Mahanadi river water. Patnaik had mobilised public opinion in support of establishment of IIT and NISER in Odisha. He also demanded more Central funds for completion of Khorda Road-Balangir railwayline.
