Bhubaneswar: Odisha cadre IAS officer of 1986-batch, GVV Sharma, who is now the member secretary, National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), and Odisha cadre IAS officer of 1985 batch, UP Singh who is the secretary, department of water resources, river development and Ganga rejuvenation, will address the Regional Workshop on Disaster Risk Reduction Measures on Monday.

The two-day workshop, going to be held on Monday and Tuesday, will be participated by delegates from Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal , Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh besides Odisha. The delegates will discuss issues and measures relating to mitigation of disasters including floods, cyclones, earthquakes and medical emergencies and its preparedness along with its use of GIS in disaster risk management.

The Odisha chief secretary, Asit Tripathy, and additional chief secretary who is also the Special Relief Commissioner PK Jena will also address the workshop.

Top officials and experts from organisations like India Meteorological Department (IMD), Central Water Commission (CWC), Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS), National Centre for Seismology (NCS), National Informatics Centre (NIC), Indian Institute of Technology, Madras(IIT-M) are going to participate in the workshop.
