Ranchi: Jharkhand governor Draupadi Murmu is likely to get an extention.
Drauadi Murmu’s five year tenure has expired on May 18,2020. However, she continues as governor as a new governor is yet to be appointed.
Sources said that Draupadi may get an extension as the government at the Centre is busy with Covid-19 pandemic.
Draupadi Murmu, a tribal leader of Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district, is the only governor of Jharkhand who has completed 5 years term.
Given Draupadi’s role as a non- controversial governor and being the tribal woman leader face of BJP, the top leaders in the party may even prefer a second term for her, sources said.
