Bhubaneswar: Bahrain Odia Samaj, an organisation of overseas Odias, has turned a saviour for the stranded Odias in Bahrain.

Under the leadership of Bahrain Odia Samaj founder Dr. Arun Kumar Praharaj, the Samaj has made arrangement to send back another group of stranded Odias to Odisha on 11th July, 2020.

An AI 0940 flight will take 150 Odias to Bhubaneswar from Bahrain via New Delhi on 11th July. The flight under the Bande Bharat Mission will charge a reduced fare at Rs126 per ticket(BD) against Rs146 charged by the June 20 Air India flight which repatriated 142 Odias from Bahrain.

The Bahrain Odia Samaj founder Dr Arun Kumar Praharaj said, “We are delighted that our repeated request to the government of India and State governments has been heard and the flight is provided at a reduced price at Rs 26,000, which is Rs 4000 less then the Rs 30,000 price of the earlier flight ticket. This is a big relief to the stranded Odia migrants who have lost their jobs since last 4 months and surviving here with community support. We deeply appreciate and thank PM Narendra Modi, union minister Dharmendra Pradhan Sir , Odisha CM Naveen Pattnaik, union civil aviation minister and Indian Embassy in Bahrain for their support.”
