Sahibabad (Uttar Pradesh): The Sahibabad unit of Tata Steel BSL made one of the largest contributions to government of Uttar Pradesh’s mega plantation drive on the occasion of Van Mahotsav by planting 10, 000 saplings at its operational locations in the State.
The steel major has planted 9500 saplings of five different native species at its Pilkhuwa Stock yard in Hapur district and another 500 saplings at its Tube plant at Sahibabad in Ghaziabad district.
The plantation contributed to the green initiative of government of Uttar Pradesh to plant 25 crore saplings on a single day – July 5, 2020 across the State. The plants were also geo-tagged through a mobile application named (Plantation Management System – PMS) to monitor the progress and survival of the saplings.
As part of its sustainable journey, Tata Steel BSL has plans to plant 1,10,000 more saplings in this Financial Year across its operational locations. Earlier on World Environment Day, the company had planted 1300 saplings at it plant in Dhenkanal district in Odisha.
