Bhubaneswar: The Odisha police completed joint verification in as many as 704 cases under SC & ST Prevention of Atrocities Act for award of compensation to the victims launching a special week-long drive from January 11 to 17, 2021.
The DGP Abhaya has expressed satisfaction over the number as the number used to be 184 to 385 per month earlier.
According to the Act, a joint varificaction report by a DSP level police officer and an executive magistrate is required for awarding compensation to the victim.
The DGP has praised the district police chief of Puri and Balasore for completing joint investigation over 100 cases each during this special drive.
