Bhubaneswar: Central sector aluminum behemoth Nalco celebrated the International Women’s Day here at Nalco Research &Training Centre on Monday.

Gracing the occasion as chief guest, the Odisha governor Prof. Ganeshi Lal in his speech quoted eloquently from Ramcharitmanas and the Vedas, where women have been put in the highest pedestal.

Prof. Ganeshi Lal, was all praise for women who are working tirelessly in various fields and lauded women for making a difference and contributing to the growth of the Nation.


A brilliant scholar, Prof Ganeshi Lal enthralled the audience with his deep knowledge and wisdom.


Padmashree awardee & eminent Writer Dr. Pratibha Ray graced the occasion as the Chief Speaker and delivered the keynote address on various issues concerning women.

Nalco CMD Sridhar Patra thanked the governor Prof. Ganeshi Lal and Dr. Pratibha Ray for motivating the employees of the Company. ‘’Our women employees have always played a significant role in strengthening the Company. They have always delivered and excelled at their work & beyond. We are proud of their achievements and consistent contributions round the year.’’
Nalco Mahila Samiti (NMS) president Sasmita Patra, and members of NMS were felicitated by the governor Prof. Ganeshi Lal & Dr. Pratibha Ray, for excelling at the ‘Mock Parliament’ event, which was organised in the run up to the Women’s Day celebrations.


During the event, women employees of Nalco were also awarded for their performance in a Quiz competition held recently.
Radhashyam Mahapatro, Director (HR), M.P. Mishra, Director (P&T and Finance) and Bijay Kumar Das, Director (Production & Commercial were also present on the occasion, along with women employees, senior management and members of Associations & Unions of Nalco.
