Bhubaneswar: India’s largest plantation program in a single district has been launched in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district. Over 5 million trees will be planted in the diatrict to improve elephant corridor.

Former Odisha Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (PCCF) Ajaya Mohapatra, the spirit behind the massive plantation programe, said that the plantation programme has started from Thursday in Bisoi block of the district. He said as part of the programme 5 million trees will be planted through Community- NGO participation to improve elephant corridor in Mayurbhanj district known world over for its Similipal bio-diversity.

Leading NGOs like LAVS, Impact Guru and Grow Trees have joined local community in the plantation programme.
