Bhubaneswar: East Coast Railway general manager Vidya Bhushan inaugurated the Kalinga Rail Heritage Museum at Chandrasekharpur, Bhubaneswar in the presence of additional general manager Sudhir Kumar, divisional railway manager, Khurda Road, Rinkesh Roy and other principal heads of departments of ECoR.

Indian railways in general and East Coast Railway in particular has a rich and illustrious history. There are lots of untold stories about railways. The aim of establishing a Rail Museum at Bhubaneswar is to preserve the old Railway equipments, to showcase the rich history of Railways in this region, to enlighten the public about railways and its achievements and to boost tourism. Efforts have been taken to preserve the long and vibrant history of Indian Railways along with the rich heritage of East Coast Railways.

Old equipments, instruments, technology devices and models have also been preserved in this Heritage Museum through an impressive display of artefacts, models and photographs. In the indoor section, various documents, old manuals, railway maps, equipments and photographs from early days of Railways in India are put on display that helps visitors to capture the spectacular history and rich heritage. There are various documentaries which will keep the visitors glued. Articulate display of postage stamps and logos makes one take a trip down memory lane and appreciate the culture and heritage of Railways. This will also facilitate the visitors to enhance their knowledge about Indian Railways by spending some quality time here.
