Bhubaneswar: JSW Steel, which is proposing to set up mega integrated steel plant with an investment of Rs 50,000 wrote at the site abandoned by South Korean steel major POSCO, has announced it’s Relief & Rehabilitation Package for the people going to effected by the project.

As per the package, compensation for loss of betel vine will be given at the rate of Rs17,500 per 1 dec of land. A bonus of Rs 50,000 will given for removal of new betel vine within 15 days of announcement of the R & R package.

The JSW Steel has announced financial compensation to left out villagers who lost their land for the project.

The Indian steel major JSW is propositing to set up the steel plant under Kujanga tehsil near Paradip port in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur. Earlier, POSCO was proposing to set up a 12 million tonne per annum steel plant with an investment of Rs 50,000 crore on the site. However, it had to abandon the project as there was fierce resistance movement spearheaded by villagers against the project.

The R & R Package has come up as fresh trouble brewing over the location of the project.
