Bhubaneswar: TP Central Odisha Distribution Limited (TPCODL), the joint venture between Tata Power and Odisha government, planned and executed proactive measures for the preparedness of the Rath Yatra. The event witnessed participation of over 12 lakh people for the first time since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic. The DISCOM ensured a smooth power supply during this year’s Rath Yatra. For this, the DISCOM has been felicitated by the district administration. Furthermore, the company was also appreciated for its efforts on Social Media platforms.

Anticipating a sharp surge in power demand during the period, TPCODL had made arrangements to meet the load through three different Grids viz Puri (132/33KV), Samuka (132/33KV) and Samagara (220/132/33KV) of OPTCL. TPCODL ensured reliable power supply in areas like Jagannath temple, Gundicha temple, Sea Beach Road, CT Road and DHH through 11KV Ring Main Units, Compact Substations (CSS) and LT feeder pillar boxes.

TPCODL deployed 500 additional staff and Business Associates for ensuring uninterrupted power supply during the Car Festival 2022. Apart from this 30 officers from other divisions of TPCODL, who had past experience of managing power supply during Rath Yatra, were deputed at Puri for better monitoring and seamless coordination throughout 10 days long event.

During the Rath Yatra, TPCODL had set up a stall near the festival area and used it as Fuse Call centre for emergency work. The stall also showcased safety instructions for awareness of general public and kids. The company’s Surakhya Sachetanata Rath (Safety awareness van) was placed at locations to ensure maximum visibility of safety messages. A campaign on benefits associated with electricity bill payment through digital mode was activated at the stall for awareness and benefit of all consumers.

To address emergency medical situations in extremely crowded areas, two mobile health dispensary units of TPCODL were deputed at Bada Danda and sea beach. These dispensaries helped providing treatment to nearly 300 people.

Puri administration appreciated TPCODL for all it’s efforts for the Rath Yatra.

“We are proud to ensure the necessary measures for the uninterrupted flow of this auspicious Rath Yatra. The event is not only an integrated part of Odia culture, but the sheer enormity of it makes it the State’s pride across the globe. We made sure that we put our best foot forward on this occasion. We will keep on taking such initiatives to deliver the best service to our customers & to the people of Odisha,” said M. Shenbagam, chief executive officer, TP Central Odisha Distribution Ltd.
