Joda/ Badbil (Odisha) : Jindal Steel & Power (JSP) iron ore slurry pipeline project faced serious set back as the local truckers attacked the project contractor Essar Constructions India Ltd. (ECIL) office on Friday. Armed with lethal weapons over 150 persons associated with Keonjhar Truck Owners Association (KTOA) raided the ECIL office at Kadakala this afternoon. They vandalised the office premises and set fire to equipments, DG sets, vehicles and heavy machineries like excavators and hydras. They also allegedly destroyed the half-constructed pipelines.

As per the FIR filed by one Suresh Behera on behalf of ECIL with the Nayakote Police Station in Keonjhar district, the miscreants threatened the staff with dire consequence before leaving the place.

According to Behera, the Project work has been undertaken after it being cleared by Odisha government’s HLCA and after obtaining all the statutory clearances.

JSP is laying the iron ore slurry pipeline from Barbil to its integrated mega steel complex at Angul in Odisha.
