Paradeep: To harness the skill of women and help them become self-reliant, ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) has extended support to the Lok Vikash Kendra (LVK) Self Help Group at Balidia village in Nuagarh Panchayat and has provided all necessary support to upgrade their skill in tailoring. The women and girls from nearby villages – Singitali, Balidia, Nuagarh and Chaumuhani have enrolled in LVK for availing training. Since the launch of Lok Vikash Kendra at Balidia, more than 400 women and girls have been trained and have become self-reliant.
Kadambini Sethi, Trainer, LVK, Balidia has been training the participants since the inception of the centre. Applauding AM/NS India’s CSR initiative for women empowerment, she says, “The proactive support of the CSR wing of AM/NS India has helped the women in the periphery villages to avail training in tailoring and we are extremely happy that this support has helped us generate additional income for the families of the participants”.
Dr. Vikas Yadvendu, Head-CSR, AM/NS India said, “It is a pleasure to see that women of LVK are on a path to becoming self-reliant as they are contributing to their family income after taking training. We are also planning to come up with more CSR related projects in the coming days to help women and local youth live a meaningful life. We are committed to bringing a sustainable change in the lives of the people in the community”.
