Bhubaneswar : The NTPC has stated in a release that one of the units of 500 MW of Kaniha Super Thermal Power Station in Odisha ‘s Talcher area has been shut down following the fire accident that broke out Saturday morning.
“As a precautionary measure Unit 3 of 500 MW was taken under shutdown for brief time to contain the fire however the same will be brought on bar shortly. All other units are normal.”
The press release said, “About 8:10 AM today a fire was reported in conveyor belt 15 A & 15 B along with at coal transfer point (TP) 16 located between Unit 2 and Unit 3. The fire call was quickly responded by the CISF Fire Wing and Plant Disaster Team . The fire has been doused fully.
No person has received any injury apart from minor first aid to 1 CISF personnel during fire fighting.”
The root cause of fire and damage is being assessed and necessary repair work will be started soon, said the release.
