Bhubaneswsr : An Ammonium Nitrate plant of 6.6 ଲକ୍ଷ tonnes per annum is coming up in Odisha’s Jharsuguda district.
Coal India Ltd. (CIL) and Bhel, the two Maharatna CPSUs have signed a joint venture agreement to set up the ammonium nitrate plant through coal gassification technology. While CIL will hold 51%, Bhel will have 49% stakes in the JVC. The plant will come up in Lakhanpur area of Mahanadi Coalfield Ltd. (MCL), a subsidiary of CIL, in Odisha.
The CIL will supply the required 1.3 million tonnes per annum coal and the Bhel would provide the indegenously developed coal gassification technology. CIL will ensure offtake of 75% of the produced ammonium nitrate.
