Bhubaneswar :Odisha chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi who also holds the finance portfolio Thursday presented an economical prudent Budget for the State Budget for the financial year 2024-25.

Majhi carried over 40 welfare schemes of the previous government, though in a new form and new name. He combined similar schemes of Centre and the State to provide maximum benefit to the beneficiaries.

Majhi introduced the much awaited Ayusman Bharat health scheme in the State but not abandoned the Naveen Patnaik governments most popular flagship health insurance scheme Biju Swastya Kalyan Yojan (BSKY). He has changed the name of BSKY into Gopabandhu Jana Arogya Yajana and has offered a hybrid health scheme of Ayusman Bharat and BSKY.

Similarly, he has introduced PM Kisan Yojana along with the Naveen Patnaik government’s flagship scheme Kalia for farmers.

Centre’s Matru Vandana Yojana and Naveen Patnaik government’s Mamata Yojana for expecting mothers has been inter -linked.

Keeping the election promises the BJP government provided Rs 10,000 crore for Subhadra Yojana to enrich women with Rs 50,000 voucher. Prpvisions have been made to procure paddy at Rs 3100 per quintal giving a bonus of Rs 800 crore.

The Budget outlay of Rs 2.65 lakh crore is 15% up from the FY24 Budget of Rs 2.30 lakh crore. The capital expenditure has been pegged at Rs 58,100 crore which is 26% higher than the budget eatimate of FY24.
