Bhubaneswar : Odisha to organise road show at Mumbai on October 19 as a prelude to its Make-in-Odisha event in January, next year.

Odisha industries minister Sampad Swain said, the chief minister will meet over 300 industrialists, investors bankers and heads of financial institutions at the road show and invite them to participate in the January event. He said the State is scouting investments in textile, food processing and renewable energy.

Swain said the chief minister will attend the IndiaChem, organised by government of India, on October 18 during his visit to Mumbai. He said Odisha has interest in chemicals and petro-chemicals as it plans PCPIRs in port areas of Paradip, Dhamra and Gopalpur.

Swain said the CM has set up a task force under the chairmanship of chief secretary Manoj Ahuja to select two alternative sites in Keonjhar district for setting up of a mega steel plant.

It may be mentioned here that Arcelor Mittal had a plan to set up a mega steel plant in Patna tehsil of the district which promises huge iron ore deposits. However, it withdrew from the project due to resistance by the locals. Arcelor Mittal has joined Japanese steel major Nippon Steel to set up a mega steel plant in Mahakalpada of Kendrapara.
