Bhubaneswar:The Girls in Aviation Day 2024 event at Rama Devi Women’s University in Bhubaneswar was a resounding success, promoting opportunities for young women to explore careers in aviation.
Organized by the Commerce and Transport Department of Odisha, in collaboration with Women in Aviation India (WAI), the event, themed “Empowering Dreams to Soar,” underscored the importance of skill development, industry knowledge, and gender diversity.
Odisha commerce, transport, steel, and mines minister Bibhuti Bhushan Jena, emphasized State’s commitment to reaching 50% female participation in aviation roles, showcasing the state’s dedication to breaking traditional gender barriers in this dynamic industry.
Commerce & Transport principal secretary Usha Padhee launched a Career Job Booklet, expressing that “for aviation, the sky is not the limit but just a beginning.” Smt. Rashmita Panda highlighted skill development initiatives to guide young women toward aviation careers, and WAI President Mrs. Radha Bhatia encouraged women to enter this future-focused industry with her inspiring words: “Chu lengi aasmaan bharat ki betiyaan!”
The event featured interactive career guidance from industry experts like Sana Mudeer, Jasmine Parichha, and Sonia Kapila, who provided insights on essential skills and career paths in aviation.
Students engaged in a vibrant Q&A session and participated in an essay competition themed “Empowering Dreams to Soar,” with winners to be recognized by the union civil aviation minister. This inspiring event reflects Odisha’s forward-thinking approach, especially with initiatives like the forthcoming Aviation Center (BPAC) at Birasal, a Centre of Excellence aimed at comprehensive aviation training.
