Barbil ( Odisha ) : ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) organised a one-day workshop on the theme of ‘Iron ore beneficiation and its development for sustainable productivity in mining’ in Barbil. In the forum, several domain experts discussed and deliberated on challenges faced by mining companies in leveraging the depleting grade of iron ore resources in India.
Inaugurating the workshop, Alok Kumar Mehta, Director – Mining & Strategic Projects AM/NS India emphasised on the importance of adopting modern beneficiation techniques to leverage depleting grade of iron ore resources to meet the increasing demand of iron ore for a developing country like India. He also elaborated on the workings of modern beneficiation techniques like HPGR (High Pressure Grinding Rolls) that helps in selective crushing and stirring mills that help in selective milling.
In the workshop, domain experts including Dr. D. S. Rao, former CSIR scientist, IMMT, Bhubaneswar, Prof. B. P. Ravi, Expert in mineral processing from Bengaluru, Dr. Venkoba Rao, Delkor, Bengaluru, G. V. Satyanarayana, Chief of Mining, Tata Steel, Khondbond shared their valuable insights on adopting modern beneficiation techniques for bringing improvement in iron ore quality which will boost blast furnace productivity and increase Fe content.
The shared insights and solutions in the workshop would go a long way in addressing the country’s iron ore challenges, emphasising on innovation for future growth.
