Baliapal: Tata Steel Foundation (TSF), in collaboration with Subarnarekha Port Pvt. Ltd. (SPPL), organized the Jyoti Fellowship Merit Test for students in the 2024-25 academic year in Baliapal and Basta. This initiative aims to provide scholarships to deserving students from Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) communities in the Basta and Baliapal blocks of Balasore district, supporting their educational and career aspirations.The merit test was conducted at three centers: Government Girls’ High School in Baliapal, LN College in Jamsuli, and Siddheswar Degree College in Amarda Road.
A total of 345 students participated, including Class VII students and first-year undergraduate students.Government Girls’ High School, Baliapal, hosted 184 school students and 65 college students. LN College, Jamsuli, hosted 37 school students and 31 college students. Siddheswar Degree College, Amarda Road, hosted 22 school students and 6 college students.This merit test identifies and rewards academic excellence among economically disadvantaged SC/ST students, ensuring they receive scholarships to continue their education.
