Bhubaneswar: The poetry colection “Sailabhasha”by talented poet and Ms.Sailabala Das was launched at a ceremony at the Bhubaneswar Club. The event showcased how an ordinary housewife has emerged as a beacon of creativity, using poetry to express her perspectives on life and society in simple yet profound language.
The chief guest, Prof. Biswaranja, a renowned writer, thinker, and educationist, praised the poet’s efforts, saying, “Ms. Sailabala Das demonstrates that creativity knows no boundaries. Her work is a reflection of deep thought, expressed in a language that resonates with the common person. The event commenced with welcome speech by the poet’s son, Navajyoti Das, who shared insights into his mother’s journey as a poet.
Dr.Seva Mohapatra, an eminent gynaecologist, humanist and philanthropist, emphasized the poet’s ability to weave emotions and reality through her poetry. “Smt Sailabala Das’s work brings a fresh perspective to the world of literature, rooted in authenticity,” she noted.
Abhis Mohanty, chairman of the Bou Foundation and Dr. Brajsunder Mishra, an eminent scholar spoke about the broader contributions of literature to society. “This collection is a testament to how art can inspire and uplift, even in a rapidly changing world,” said Mohanty.
Dr. Shashank Grahacharya, director of the Gopabandhu Administrative Academy, applauded the poet for addressing social themes with simplicity and depth.
Dr. Abhay Kumar Dash, former Superintendent of Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi, provided an insightful review of selected poems, appreciating their cultural and linguistic richness.
The poet, Sailabala Das, shared her creative journey and the role literature has played in her life. ‘Writing poetry has been my way of navigating life’s complexities and expressing my innermost thoughts,”‘ she said.
Publisher Ramachandra Nath of Pallibani Publishers, New Delhi, who could not attend, sent a message emphasizing the importance of such works in enriching the literary landscape.
The event was moderated by Dwipanita Das, writer and former Principal DPS, who ensured the program’s smooth progression.
