Bhubaneswar : Odisha chief minister Mohan Majhi Tuesday expressed his unhappiness over the performance ICICI, Axis and HDFC banks, three top private banks of the country, in the State.
The CM gave a piece of his mind at a meeting with the top executives of the three banks today.
Majhi told the top bankers that the performance of their banks in lending under various welfare schemes for people.
It may be mentioned here that on June 21, 2025, the State government has removed these three banks from the empanelled list thus debaring them from handling government accounts. The government action came on the failure of these three private banks performance in lending for agriculture and welfare schemes like PMEGP, PM Swanidhi Yojana, Standup India, housing, education,and export.
Stating that the performance of the banks is not satisfactory, the CM advised the bankers to take steps for better lending scores in agriculture, poverty alleviation, housing and government welfare schemes.
The top bankers assured the CM that there would be a serious efforts on their part to meet the expectations of the people in the State.।
CM’s principal secretary who also holds the finance department Saswat Mishra appraised the CM about the performance of the banks in Odisha.
The meeting was attended by Axis bank executive director Munish Sarada, business country head Anil Agarwal, east regional head sourav dutta, HDFC bank country head Smita Bhagat, branch banking head east Sandip Kumar, regional head Deepak Singh, ICICI Bank business head Sumit Meherotra, Odisha city business head Vinod L and regional head Amiya Nayak.
