Bhubaneswar: Odisha Housing & Urban Development Principal Secretary Ms. Usha Padhee Friday visited the construction site of the Model Bus Terminal in Jagatsinghpur on the second day of her official district tour. The project, being developed at an estimated cost of ₹ 16 cores, is envisioned to significantly enhance the commuting experience for lakhs of passengers.
She was accompanied by J. Sonal, Collector and District Magistrate, Jagatsinghpur,Sambit Kumar Rout, Additional District Magistrate, Rabi Narayan Jethy, Project Director, DRDA, Archana Singh, Chairperson, Jagatsinghpur Municipality; and other senior officials from the district administration.
During the site inspection, Ms. Padhee reviewed infrastructure planning and execution components. She stressed the need for well-structured Operation & Maintenance (O&M) mechanisms to ensure long-term efficiency of the terminal. Key recommendations included provisioning of commercial shop spaces to promote local entrepreneurship, establishment of Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations, and integration of solar energy systems for clean and sustainable operations.Her proposals were positively welcomed by the executing teams, who assured prompt incorporation of the suggestions.
Ms. Padhee highlighted the Government’s commitment to building citizen-friendly, energy-efficient, and well-managed urban transport facilities across Odisha.The visit underlined the emphasis on timely delivery and qualitative upgradation of the Model Bus Terminal, positioning it as a modern hub to facilitate improved urban mobility in Jagatsinghpur.
